Job Description

SkyWater has been retained by one of the largest independent distributors in the Midwest to identify their next Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for executing the Company’s vision and strategy, as approved by the Board, by leading the Company to long-term profitable and sustainable growth with a strong culture to retain and attract top industry talent, partners/suppliers, and customers.

The CEO will be the key driver in the strategic development and execution of operations for the company and its subsidiaries. Primary responsibilities include refining the mission and vision, setting tactical objectives aligned with the approved strategy, communicating clearly, and achieving annual goals aligned with long-term objectives. Additionally, the CEO will support and nurture the company's involvement in the community and industry associations. The job description includes but is not limited to:

Develop and Execute Organizational Strategy

  • Provide leadership in setting vision, mission, strategic plan, and annual operating plan for all areas of the company in conjunction with the Board.
  • Responsible for developing future leaders and a strong succession plan.
  • Maintain a positive, ethical work climate that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels.
  • Manage daily business affairs, focusing on strategic growth, profitability, and operational objectives.
  • Drive growth in existing and new markets, including through acquisitions.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in supplier relationships, products, and services.

Building the Team

  • Ensure effective senior and middle management teams are in place, with active development and succession plans.
  • Work with the Board to establish an effective succession plan for the CEO position.
  • Oversee formulation and implementation of major corporate policies.

  • Uphold and promote the company's culture, mission, and values in interactions with customers, partners, and the public.
  • Foster a respectful, inclusive team environment that values participation and partnership.
  • Promote ethical practices and social responsibility.

Capital Allocation Decisions

  • Develop and recommend long-term strategies to enhance shareholder value.
  • Propose annual business plans and budgets aligned with strategic goals, including investments.
  • Balance short-term and long-term financial and operational goals to promote profitability and growth.
