ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees are expected to perform essential duties to performance standards.   • Provides supervision and guidance to various department supervisors and staff. Delegates and assigns tasks, duties and responsibilities, and provides direction and instruction. Ensures that employees know performance and conduct expectations and holds employees accountable for meeting position specific and organizational goals including client service goals, time to documentation requirement, resolution of failed activities, service limit adherence, completion of quality, accurate and complete clinical records for each client, and other specified position or organizational goals.
  • Establishes quality measures for crisis intervention providers agency-wide (including all school-based, corrections-based, and clinical service sites).
  • Establishes clinical practice policies and protocols, individual/group supervision, case conferencing, quality assurance and improvement, reviewing treatment plans while setting the pace for a high -performance productive department.
  • Participates in the development of programming and services utilizing emerging practices and evidenced based interventions for crisis stabilization.
  • Ensures that employees have the resources to perform their job effectively and proficiently. Supports and guides employees through change.
  • Encourages and helps with professional and career development of employees. Conducts performance reviews on a regular basis to monitor, evaluate, discuss and guide progress. Monitors performance to ensure work is being done in accordance with standards, and that Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are being met. Conducts and documents supervision sessions (group and individual). Supports and guides employees to becoming self-directed.
  • Seeks feedback and suggestions, and communicates clearly what is happening in the department and organization.
  • Manages, participates in, and leads meetings. Sets and monitors department priorities and organizes and monitors projects. Represents BHP at internal and external meetings as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer and approved by the President & CEO.
  • Develops goals and plans for employees for achieving mission/vision of the organization. Plans strategies to meet the goals of the department and organization.

  • Approves time off requests, interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations, makes disciplinary recommendations, and participates in other personnel actions. Coordinates activities in conjunction with the CQI Specialist related to performance improvement process.
  • Provides and documents individual and group supervision according to the CQI Supervision Plan.
  • Ensures there is no disruption in service for programs supervised in the event of staff absence.
  • Keeps abreast of community resources and keeps staff informed regarding referral opportunities.
  • Maintains contact/or ensures that staff maintain contact with other community professionals regarding client’s progress, treatment recommendations and ongoing planning.
  • Maintains confidentiality of HIPAA and other confidential and sensitive information.
  • Maintains the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all aspects of job performance.
  • Keeps abreast of current trends and “best practices” in the field. Attends and participates in required trainings on topics relevant to the job and to behavioral healthcare.
  • Performs job responsibilities and maintains all records in accordance with BHP’s policy, procedure and protocol, and as appropriate to the job, all regulatory authorities’ accreditation/licensure/ certification standards, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in organizational marketing activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

The employee assigned to this position is responsible for achieving each of the following key performance indicators (KPI’s) to the specified standard. The employee is likewise accountable for consistently meeting or exceeding all of this job’s essential duties to performance standards as are evaluated throughout the course of employment, and which are rated during the performance evaluation period.

  1. MHR established performance targets for time from call to 1st contact and 1st contact to treatment appointments are met.
  2. No failed activities beyond 30 days for department supervised.
  3. 100% of findings from monthly record review corrected within 14 days.
  4. Clinical programming of the programs supervised is delivered in accordance with organization and regulatory requirements.
  5. Recognizes and praises (specific and detailed) employees for doing good work at least every seven days.

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION

Crisis Intervention Team (both Licking and Knox Counties), Urgent Cares, Mobile Urgent Care, MRSS Team and Crisis Centers (Program Development).

EQUIPMENT OPERATED

Computer, telephone, cell phone, copier, fax, and other general office equipment; personal vehicle.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS

Clients, staff, applicants, volunteers, community professionals, general public, business executives, family members and other internal and external job contacts.

CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION AND DATA

Client records, drug test results, and financial information; personnel issues; information contained in employee personnel files; and other confidential or sensitive information.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Good office and community working conditions. Exposure to medium to high risk conditions when working in residential facilities. Possible exposure to inclement weather and traffic conditions when traveling to and from worksites. Ability to telework during emergency health related or inclement weather situations, or as required by management.

USUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The following demands are typically used and exhibited by employees when performing this job’s essential duties and responsibilities. The employee frequently converses verbally with others in person and by telephone. The employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity and eye-hand coordination when performing general typing, word processing, paperwork and other similar tasks. The employee regularly sits for extended periods of time, and frequently walks through various types of environment. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when using a computer screen, and performing other tasks. The employee frequently sits in a vehicle for periods of time while driving to and from various locations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILIITIES

Knowledge of : Proficiency in crisis intervention, management, and stabilization; Understanding of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles; leadership, management and clinical supervisory principles and practices; and mental health recovery principles and practice; community and social service resources; counseling theory, principles and ethics; human development; communication dynamics; good working knowledge of Ohio Behavioral Health redesign changes; HIPAA and other confidentiality requirements.

Ability to: apply management and supervisory principles to practical work situations; establish rapport with clients; work with diverse populations; offer consultation regarding crisis situations appropriately and professionally; be self-directed; develop and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and other job contacts; demonstrate respect and sensitivity for cultural and personal differences; contribute toward building a positive and productive team working environment; maintain confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information; consistently exhibit job competency, ethical conduct, integrity and trustworthiness; embrace and effectively adapt to organizational change; exhibit behavior and conduct consistent with BHP values and policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicable laws or regulations require that employees assigned to some jobs attain a specific level of education, experience, or training, and license or certification. For other jobs, a combination of various levels and types of education, experience, training, and license or certification may qualify a person to perform essential duties of this position. Qualifications specified for this position are:

Education, Experience and Training

Attainment of education and experience levels required to earn required licensures; possession of required licensures and advanced experience in clinical supervision of counseling, care coordination, and residential staff. Previous experience in outpatient behavioral healthcare. Experience with CARF and OHMHAS certification requirements and standards. Experience and competence in quantitative and qualitative evidence-based practices.

Licenses or Certifications

Master’s degree in behavioral health field and independent licensure (S designation preferred). State motor vehicle operator’s license.

Additional Qualifications

Upon conditional hire, and as a condition of employment, each employee is required to submit to and pass a drug test, criminal background check, and may be required to submit to driving record check, personal vehicle inspection, and be insurable under BHP’s driving insurance provider guidelines depending on job assigned job duties.

Ability to document personal identity and employment eligibility within three days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act (I-9) requirements.
