Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Credentialing Specialist to support both onboarding and ongoing credentialing of early intervention providers. This position plays a vital role in maintaining compliance with state, federal, and payer regulations by ensuring all providers are properly credentialed and re-credentialed in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Onboarding Credentialing

  • Process initial credentialing applications for new providers (SLPs, OTs, PTs, educators, etc.)

  • Verify education, licensure, certifications, background checks, and references

  • Collect and maintain all required documentation in compliance with state and payer standards

  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Clinical Supervisors to facilitate smooth onboarding

Ongoing Credentialing

  • Monitor expiring licenses, certifications, and insurance documents

  • Initiate and process re-credentialing for Medicaid, commercial payers, and other agencies

  • Maintain up-to-date records in credentialing databases and provider files

  • Ensure timely updates to provider profiles with health plans and regulatory agencies

Compliance & Communication

  • Maintain thorough understanding of state early intervention regulations and payer credentialing requirements

  • Communicate proactively with providers regarding documentation needs and deadlines

  • Prepare reports and audits to ensure compliance and data accuracy

  • Support audits from external agencies and internal quality reviews

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • 2+ years of experience in credentialing, healthcare administration, or early intervention services

  • Familiarity with Medicaid/insurance credentialing requirements and early intervention systems (e.g., EI Hub, NYEIS, or equivalent)

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with credentialing software, Excel, and cloud-based document management systems

  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in early childhood intervention or special education settings

  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other relevant healthcare regulations

  • Bilingual a plus (especially Spanish, Mandarin, or ASL)
