Electric Era is hiring a Traveling Electrician to support field commissioning and maintenance of our battery-backed DC fast charging stations. In the field, you will either perform maintenance tasks yourself or manage third-party contractors, depending on the complexity and urgency of the issue. In both cases, you will ensure the work meets Electric Era’s safety, quality, and reliability standards. You will also coordinate with logistics and maintenance vendors and provide valuable feedback from the field to inform future designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and integrate electrical and mechanical hardware

  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Support troubleshooting of hardware issues in real-time and provide feedback to eliminate repeat issues
  • Travel to customer or company sites across the US to perform electrical maintenance and repair tasks
  • Inspect and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, including electrical circuits, control systems and mechanical components of electrical equipment
  • Perform onsite maintenance directly or oversee contractors, depending on the situation; ensure all field work meets Electric Era’s quality and safety standards
  • Coordinate with logistics and maintenance vendors; inspect vendor-completed work to ensure adherence to company standards
  • Interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation to execute repairs and installations
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, and local regulations
  • Collaborate with leadership, site managers, engineers, and contractors to complete work safely, efficiently, and in a professional manner
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time on site using Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies and be part of an on-call rotation as needed
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or a certificate from an accredited trade school / program
  • Minimum of 4 years of direct work experience in commercial or industrial electrical work
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% for field-based work, including overnight or weekend work as required

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with typical commercial power systems equipment (e.g., switchboard, panelboards, transformers)
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
  • Proficiency with personal computers and smartphones
  • Experience overseeing maintenance operations or third party contractors

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to read, interpret and work from drawings, controlled documentation and processes such as layout drawings, mechanical drawings, assembly procedures / work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list
  • Experience with and understanding of construction safety and electrical safety requirements, including risk assessments, safe work practices, Lock-out Tag-out, and use of PPE
